By Mary Oliver

My work is loving the world.

Here the sunflowers, there the hummingbirdβ€”

equal seekers of sweetness.

Here the quickening yeast;

there the blue plums.

Here the clam deep in the speckled sand.

Are my boots old?

Is my coat torn?

Am I no longer young, and still half-perfect?

Let me keep my mind on what matters,

which is my work,

which is mostly standing still and learning to be astonished.

The phoebe, the delphinium.

The sheep in the pasture, and the pasture.

Which is mostly rejoicing, since all the ingredients are here,

which is gratitude, to be given a mind and a heart

and these body-clothes,

a mouth with which to give shouts of joy

to the moth and the wren,

to the sleepy dug-up clam,

telling them all,

over and over,

how it is that we live forever.

Dear Reader

I hope this message finds you well. Summer is in full swing here, and I wanted to share a few exciting updates with you!

On a personal note, our garden is bursting with life. My roses are blooming beautifully this year, and they’ve become a daily reminder of the simple joys and the beauty all around us. The plum and peach trees are laden with fruit, and I can’t wait to invite you here this summer to share in the bounty. The garden has become a cherished space for all of us, and I hope you’re finding your own moments of peace and happiness this season.

Amidst the beauty, I’m also mindful of the great pain and suffering in the world. The tragedy in Rafah weighs heavily on my heart, reminding me of how precious life is and how we must do all we can to protect its sacredness. We need to take continuous action to create a more compassionate world. Please take a moment and demand a ceasefire. I’m not sure how much impact we can really have but it feels important to keep trying, to keep sharing, to keep calling for a ceasefire. For mercy. The 5 Calls App makes it easy.

As we reflect on Mary Oliver’s poignant statement “My work is loving the world”, let us remember that our wild and precious lives are not just our own. They are bound to the lives of others, to the fate of a world that is as beautiful as it is broken. Let us choose to love this world, fiercely and fully, and in doing so, let us become the change we so desperately seek.

And finally, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you for your continued support and participation in my life. Our community thrives because of each and every one of you. Let’s continue to create a more beautiful world together.

Please hit reply and let me know how you’re doing. I always love hearing from you and treasure our connection.

With Love,
