This weekend greets us with the auspicious timing of the Strawberry Full Moon, Summer Solstice, and International Yoga Day. I stand in awe and gratitude for the ancient tradition of Yoga and its profound impact on my life and the lives of so many. Yoga has the power to transform, to bring about self-awareness, and to create inner and outer harmony. It is a journey of coming home to ourselves, again and again, realizing our inherent wholeness, and embracing our union with body, mind, breath, and all of life.

Cure yourself with the light of the sun and the rays of the moon.
With the sound of the river and the waterfall.
With the swaying of the sea and the fluttering of birds.
Heal yourself with mint, with neem and eucalyptus.
Sweeten yourself with lavender, rosemary, and chamomile.
Hug yourself with the cocoa bean and a touch of cinnamon.
Put love in tea instead of sugar, and take it looking at the stars.
Heal yourself with the kisses that the wind gives you and the hugs of the rain.
Get strong with bare feet on the ground and with everything that is born from it.
Get smarter every day by listening to your intuition, looking at the world with the eye of your forehead.
Jump, dance, sing, so that you live happier.
Heal yourself, with beautiful love, and always remember: you are the medicine.

I want to share a personal story with you. Between 2017 and 2022, I was struggling with deep-seated trauma coming up to be healed and a strong sense of imbalance in my body and life. Entering perimenopause and experiencing the death of my father marked a pivotal time for me, inviting me to unwind deeply rooted patterns that had been hidden or dormant in my body and mind. It was during this challenging period that I turned again to Yoga and Ayurveda for answers.

The wisdom of these ancient traditions guided me to a path of deeper healing, integration, and self-discovery. I delved into the Ashtangha Hridayam, studied Ayurvedic herbs, and explored Marma Chikitsa and trauma healing. I tweaked my self-care rituals, and quickly, I began to notice profound changes. My energy levels stabilized, my mind became clearer, and I felt a deep sense of balance returning to my life.

Research supports the profound impact that yoga and Ayurveda can have on the body’s stress response systems, particularly the Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Adrenal (HPA) axis. Studies have shown that regular yoga practice and Ayurvedic lifestyle interventions can help regulate the HPA axis, reducing stress and promoting overall well-being. This scientific evidence aligns with my personal experience and the countless stories I’ve heard from others on this journey.

This journey wasn’t easy, and I know many of you might be going through similar struggles. I see you. I’ve walked this path and want to share that healing and harmony are within reach. This personal experience has solidified my belief in the transformative power of Yoga and Ayurveda, and I believe these practices can bring profound healing and restoration to anyone willing to embrace them.

Remember, you are the medicine.
